Yiru Qian is an architect and visual artist who founded commonstate studio in 2023 and now lives and works in London. Influenced by architecture, archival research and intellectual archaeology, she seeks to explore alternative historical narratives through video and production. Using research as the basis for each artistic project, she reduces abstract concepts to concrete critical situations, offering alternative imaginings for understanding the present and the future.
Xuezhi Liu graduated from Central Saint Martins University in England, specializing in ceramic art. She continued her studies in Jingdezhen after then. Since returning back to her hometown of Guangzhou, Xuezhi has continued to explore the colors and meanings of ceramic art in modern life, blending the modern and the traditional from her own aesthetic point of view to create a new fusion of the Oriental and the Western. She creates her own brand of modern ceramic art under the same name: Xuezhi.
