Immense Intimacy

Septième hosted artist Wei Mingxuan’s solo exhibition “Immense Intimacy” from November 28th to December 5th, 2021. “Immense Intimacy” was a series of works created by the artist at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020, showcasing 12 pieces focusing on eggs. Referencing the words of the French philosopher Bachelard: “A shape that encourages and encloses the initial dream”, the shape of an egg resembles a strong desire to construct meaningful connections between oneself and the rest of the world. In this collection, the repetitive depiction of eggs mirrored the continual need for completeness in real life. Through the portrayal of texture and form, the artist expressed her longing for intimacy against the insanity.
