“Between Breaths” was presented jointly by the Paris-based Japanese art and fragrance brand Miya Shinma and Septième from July 23rd to August 5th, 2022. Four parts of the exhibition were staged in four corners in our space: Part I. Exchange; Part II. Growth; Part III. Ma (Japanese for “between”; Part IV. Yugen (Japanese for “mysterious profundity”). Through the interweaving of fibers, soft and warm washi paper, and the naturally dynamic and powerful fragrance of MIYA SHINMA, the Japanese aesthetic consciousness was extended, re-focusing on the long-overlooked idea of “breath”. Within the invisible rhythm and energy of breathing, the exhibition provoked reflections on the bond between fragrance and people, nature, and space.
